I still find it hilarious that Nigerians cannot come to terms with the fact that likes of Awo, Zik & Sardauna accentuated our tribal differences and indeed introduced tribal/regional politics into Nigeria. I dare say however, that these acts were not necessarily borne out of anti-nationalistic desires, but rather because these leaders identified first with their tribes and regions before the nation. The tribes are trading words now and further intensifying the divide because all along we have been living in denial and now we are afraid that accepting this fact will lessen the personality or reputation of these leaders.
